“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.”
— C.G. Jung
Do you dream of houses much?
Maybe your old family home, or a place entirely unfamiliar — with many rooms, hidden spaces, or doors you didn’t expect?
In my own dreams, houses represent the Self: who I’ve been, who I am, and who I’m becoming.
Recently, I had the opportunity to visit a very special house: Carl Jung’s family home in Küsnacht, overlooking Lake Zürich.
It’s a large home with expansive gardens, although the inner world it reflects is even more expansive.
The entire space is rich with symbolism.
Everywhere you look, there are paintings, tapestries, statues, stained glass…images of Christian saints, Eastern deities, mythological figures, alongside various alchemical illustrations, all woven into the fabric of the home.
At his writing desk, Jung kept a small statue of the Buddha in front of him. Behind it, a framed copy of the Shroud of Turin — the alleged imprint of Jesus’ face. The image was so intense that he had a curtain fitted to cover it when needed.
The scent of pipe tobacco still lingers in the air of his private library, home to an extensive alchemical collection.
This was where he wrote and reflected deeply — between time with his family, dinners and long conversations with friends, boating trips, and tending his garden.
The whole house speaks of a man fully engaged with life, devoted to his soul’s desires and passions.
He married the woman he chose early on, built the home he envisioned, filled it with meaning and raised a large family, whilst also pursuing his career and many interests, producing an impressive amount of creative work and leaving a lasting legacy.
Despite some truly dark times in his life — or perhaps because of them — Jung followed his soul’s calling with remarkable clarity. He came to understand how spiritual experience and psychological growth are deeply intertwined.
His work with dreams and active imagination involved listening to the unconscious, decoding its symbols, and honouring the inner images that guide us — even when they challenge us.
This is the spirit of our next Dreams & Visions Workshop and Dream Sharing Circle on Sunday, 1st June in Zurich.
We’ll go on an immersive meditative dream journey, work with dream images and symbols, opening to receive and decode messages from your soul — especially those pointing to your soul’s purpose, vision, and ascension.
Maybe you haven’t yet found your passion, your dream partner, or built your dream home.
But what is the vision you’re holding?
Where is your soul guiding you?
What symbols keep returning in your dreams?
The path of individuation — the soul’s journey to wholeness — isn’t always easy. But it is deeply fulfilling. And it becomes so much clearer when you make space to listen.
